Learn More(Gwinnett County, Ga., June 10, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office assisted officers with the Gwinnett County Police Department during a stolen motor vehicle call. While assisting, a Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office K9 deputy was shot.
The suspect was later apprehended by members of the Gwinnett County Police Department’s SWAT team. The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office has initiated an active internal investigation into the shooting. Since this is an officer-involved shooting, we have referred this investigation to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as the lead investigating agency.
The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office appreciates all responding agencies for their assistance, which includes the Gwinnett County Police Department, the Gwinnett County Police Department’s SWAT team, the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
