(Gwinnett County, GA, March 18, 2024) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to ensuring the security of our facility. On January 17, 2024, a substance suspected to be methamphetamine was located during a routine cell search inside of the Gwinnett County Jail. Our Jail Intelligence Unit was notified and immediately launched an official investigation. In total, investigators recovered six grams of methamphetamine that were prepackaged into 10 small parcels for the purpose of distribution.

(Gwinnett County, Ga., October 11, 2023) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Task Force continues to cultivate relationships that provide essential mental health services to the community. The Sheriff’s Office announces a landmark partnership between the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Task Force and Positive Impact Health Centers (PIHC).

(Gwinnett County, GA, August 4, 2023) – On Thursday, August 3, 2023, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office regarding two males that were identified as non-students entering Jackson County High School. After contact was made with the two males, they left the building. Subsequently, the two males were involved in an incident in Barrow County that resulted in a hard lockdown in the Barrow County School System. Information obtained on social media showed one of the suspects in possession of a firearm. Based upon the information received, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit initiated an investigation that led to the apprehensions of Christian Lebron Williams and Lamonte Dianell Smith. Additionally, during the course of the investigation, it was determined that Christian Lebron Williams had additional outstanding warrants related to firearms charges for a May 2023 incident.

(Gwinnett County, Ga., December 5, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office Court Operations Division successfully conducted a live, multi-agency, active shooter exercise at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 8:00 A.M. to 9:30 A.M.

(Gwinnett County, Ga., November 16, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office hosted the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway on Thursday, November 10, at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. This event is one of Sheriff Taylor's many promising initiatives to his citizens. He established the Community Outreach Section to further develop community-based strategies by utilizing restorative justice principles to enhance economic opportunity, create relationships, and strengthen local neighborhoods. Sheriff Taylor has focused on a dynamic framework for quality growth and development through community events. This year, more than 4,000 vehicles were met by 216 community volunteers and 24 deputies.

(Gwinnett County, Ga., November 4, 2022) – Sheriff Keybo Taylor will implement proactive measures to ensure the safety of the citizens of Gwinnett County as the holiday season approaches. Sheriff Taylor is taking immediate action to address community concerns.

Gwinnett County, Ga., October 15, 2022) – “Providing for the safety, security, and proper medical care of our inmate resident population is a top priority, and we will continue to assist the GBI with their robust investigation into the deaths of Mr. Strayhorn, Mr. Bryant, and Mr. Longshore.

(Cleveland, G.A., June 30, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit has William and Carina McCue in custody.

(Gwinnett County, Ga., July 13, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office Trafficking and Child Exploitation Unit (TRACE) has arrested Richmond Totimeh. The investigation led to Totimeh being charged with the use of a computer service to seduce a child, obscene Internet contact with a child, and criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation by sodomy. Totimeh is currently housed at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

(Gwinnett County, Ga., May 16, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit has Deavian Jasiri-Teeir Netters in custody. Netters is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. His charges are regarding a homicide that occurred on April 24, 2021, at the Mirzah Hookah Lounge.

(Gwinnett County, Ga., May 21, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office will host it’s Become a Star Career Expo on Saturday, May 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. After nearly two years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have opened our doors to resume recruitment efforts in person. Our event will have live K9s, Jail Dogs, and drone demonstrations and multiple new initiatives and units available for photo opportunities. Public information officers will be onsite for sound bites.

(Gwinnett County, Ga., June 10, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office assisted officers with the Gwinnett County Police Department during a stolen motor vehicle call. While assisting, a Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office K9 deputy was shot.

(Gwinnett County, Ga., May 24, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office has 44 in custody from Operation Street Sweeper. This operation is our second crime suppression effort within 2022. It consisted of over 100 deputies and four crime analysts totaling over 2,784 staffing hours. During Operation Street Sweeper, 257 warrants were attempted, 90 warrants served, and 44 individuals in custody in only three days. Their charges varied from failure to appear to aggravated assault. Deputies recovered 2 stolen weapons.

(Gwinnett County, Ga., May 7, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Task Force is hosting their inaugural Community Mental Health Awareness Fair – Breaking the Stigma in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. As part of the event, mental health advocates and resources from the metropolitan Atlanta area will be onsite to provide information to all attendees. Along with mental health resources, we will have veteran assistance personnel for our local active and retired military service men and women.

(Gwinnett County, G.A., April 27, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit has Thomas George Kaercher in custody for multiple internet crimes against children. He is charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Aggravated Child Molestation (x2), Electronically Furnishing Obscene Material to Minors, Computer Pornography, and Obscene Internet Contact with a Child. The original incident occurred in 2020, and the Gwinnett County Police Department is the lead investigating agency. Kaercher failed to appear before the Judge on his scheduled court date; consequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Our investigators located him in Savannah, Georgia. The Chatham County Police Department assisted with extraditing him to Gwinnett County. He is housed in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

(Lawrenceville, GA,. April 25, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit has one in custody for sex crimes against children. Alberto Luna Alvarez is charged with Aggravated Child Molestation by Sodomy (x2), Child Molestation (x2), and had an outstanding bench warrant. Lawrenceville Police Department swore out the warrants for his arrest after the victim came forward regarding the recurring crime in November 2021. Through the course of the investigation, investigators discovered that Alvarez fled from Georgia to Texas. Upon his return to Georgia, he was apprehended. He is housed in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
