  • Work schedule will be given once interns have been assigned
  • Schedule may vary and could include weekends

  • Interns will be responsible for transportation to and from the program
  • Yes, interns dress code is based on their assigned department, which could include business attire, business casual attire, or a uniform
  • Interns assigned to Community Services may have more relaxed requirements

Business attire is a traditional form of attire that typically refers to clothing choices, like the following

  • Slacks or skirts
  • Modest and clean footwear
  • Button-down shirt or blouse
  • Tailored suit or blazer
  • Simple and understated jewelry

Business casual is a common form of attire worn in many offices, like the following:

  • Slacks or business dress pants, khakis, knee-length skirts, or dark jeans without holes
  • Button-down shirts, sweaters, blouses, or polo shirts
  • Knee-length or maxi dresses
  • Closed-toed shoes, such as loafers, oxfords, boots, pumps, or flats
  • Simple, professional accessories, such as scarves, belts, or jewelry
  • Cardigans, blazers, or sport coats are optional
  • 30-minute or 1-hour lunch break each day, depending on assignment
  • Interns responsible for providing their lunch
  • Lunch is not provided during four-week program
  • Lunch is provided during Saturday workshops
  • Two 15-minute breaks throughout the day during Saturday workshops
  • Candidates are required to submit an online application to the program. 
  • Participants 15 years of age will be required to obtain a work permit. 
  • Upon selection to the internship program and depending on the position, pre-employment documents will be required including but not limited to: 
    • Background check 
    • I-9 
    • Direct deposit information 
    • Additional department-specific paperwork may be required. 

Consult with school/college/university to determine if this government internship program qualifies 

  • Being available for the entire internship is a program requirement
  • Interns will not be paid for time off
  • Interns may be withdrawn from program
  • Biweekly based on the Gwinnett County Government pay schedule
  • Required federal and state taxes will be taken out of each paycheck

Yes, interns are not scheduled to work during County holidays but they will be paid
