Asian American and Pacific Islander residents make up more than 14% of Gwinnett’s population! Each May, AAPI Heritage Month provides an opportunity to pause and celebrate the remarkable contributions and achievements of influential Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in our vibrant community.
The month was officially designated in 1992 by Congress to highlight the significant contributions of AAPIs to American society in various fields, including science, technology, arts, and business.
On Friday, May 30, 2025, Gwinnett County proudly hosted an AAPI cultural celebration at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville. The vibrant event featured diverse art, captivating performances, delicious food, and more. This celebration honored the 2025 theme, Choosing Humanity: Joy, Justice & Leadership, and was dedicated to showcasing the rich variety of regions and cultures that comprise our AAPI community. It was a powerful evening of fellowship and vibrant cultural exchange.
