Say it loud! Each February, Gwinnett County proudly celebrates Black History Month to uplift and spotlight our vibrant African American community.

Black History Month is an annual celebration recognizing the achievements and contributions of Black Americans. The month originates from "Negro History Week," which was founded by historian and educator Carter G. Woodson in 1926. This was expanded to Black History Month by President Gerald Ford in 1976.
