The Public Information Office is the point of contact for media representatives.  Public Information Officers, or PIOs, assist in routine news coverage, respond to major incidents, issue press releases, and arrange press conferences.

Media requests for reports and other materials should be submitted by email.

Reporting Emergencies

Anyone experiencing a fire or medical emergency should dial 911 to reach the Gwinnett County Emergency Dispatch Center. For non-emergency situations, callers may use 770.513.5700. Individuals outside Gwinnett County who need to report an emergency can call 770.513.5911.

Obtaining Fire Reports

Fire reports may be requested through the online Open Records Portal. Requesters should be prepared to provide the incident date, time, names of individuals involved, and the type of incident when submitting their request.

Open Records & Environmental Requests

All open records requests — including those related to fire incidents or general department information — must be submitted through the online portal. Environmental and hazardous materials-related requests, often submitted by contractors or environmental professionals, are also handled through the same portal.

Media & Assignment Editor Information

Reporters and assignment editors seeking information on breaking incidents or general media inquiries are encouraged to contact the Fire PIO. The PIO is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and an on-call PIO remains available after hours, on weekends, and during emergencies to assist news outlets. Media representatives may reach the Fire PIO at any time by emailing FDpio@GwinnettCounty.com.
