Change your clocks, change your batteriesMarch 10, 2017
Daylight Savings Time, which begins March 12 at 2:00am, is the perfect time to replace your smoke alarm batteries. After setting your clocks ahead one hour on Sunday, please take a few moments to place fresh batteries in smoke alarms throughout your home.
Changing your batteries when you change your clocks for Daylight Savings Time each year is an easy way to remember this annual necessity. Daylight Savings Time is also a great opportunity to check the date of your smoke alarm and replace any alarm more than 10 years old.
Smoke alarms should be installed on every level of the home, in the hallway outside the sleeping area, and in each of the bedrooms. Smoke alarms should be tested monthly by pushing the test button.
These tips ensure that your smoke alarms are in proper working order and can help keep your family safe in the event of a home fire.
