Gwinnett celebrates Welcoming Week

Welcoming Week brings together neighbors of all backgrounds to build strong connections and affirm the importance of a welcoming and inclusive community. 

The County will celebrate Welcoming Week with three partner events: 

  • African Immigrant Heritage Month reception: Join us on Friday, September 9 at 6:00pm at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center for the African Immigrant Heritage Month reception in partnership with the African Women Public Advocacy Committee. The reception will include traditional African food, performances, and speakers from the African immigrant community. Guests are strongly encouraged to register for the reception

  • Citizenship Clinic: Gwinnett Community Outreach is partnering with the Gwinnett County Public Library and Asian Americans Advancing Justice- Atlanta to host a Citizenship Clinic on Monday, September 12 from 10:00am - 2:00pm at the Duluth Library Branch located at 3180 Main Street in Duluth. The program is available to anyone in need of US citizenship application assistance. You can visit GwinnettPL.org to learn more and make and appointment. 

  • Welcoming Week Read Aloud: Community Outreach has also partnered with the Gwinnett Public Library to host a Welcoming Week Read Aloud. Families are invited to the Welcoming Week Read Aloud Saturday, September 17 from 10:30am - 11:30am at the Norcross Branch Library, located at 5735 Buford Hwy in Norcross. Young readers will get to listen to an English, Korean, and Spanish storytime, dance, and sing songs, and make fun crafts!
