WHAT: FREE Community Smoke Alarm and Fire Safety Blitz
WHEN: Saturday, June 11, 2016 starting at 8:30a.m.
WHERE: Highpoint Road Area (rally point at 2950 Spruce Circle, Snellville Ga. 30078)
HOW: On Saturday, June 11, 2016, Gwinnett County Government and local nonprofits are coming together to conduct a FREE Smoke Alarm and Fire Safety Blitz in a Gwinnett County neighborhood in (unincorporated) Snellville.
The Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services, American Red Cross, and the EXCEL 2016 Gwinnett County Leadership Class, made up of employees from different County departments, will join forces to help make a Snellville neighborhood safe from fire.
During the blitz, EXCEL leadership class participants, firefighters and citizen volunteers will go door-to-door to check existing smoke alarms and will install smoke alarms in homes as needed. In addition, volunteers will give out packets including information on fire prevention and other County services available to residents, i.e. Senior Services, Parks and Recreation Services, and Water Resources.
The blitz set-up and volunteer briefing will start at 8:30a.m., at the Spruce Circle rally point. The actual door-to-door smoke alarm campaign will begin at 10a.m., and is expected to take a few hours to complete.
