Adult Son Kills Father with Crowbar in Driveway of their Home, Attacks Officer at HQ

(Buford, Georgia)  A Buford man is in custody this evening accused of beating and killing his father with a crowbar in the driveway of their home.

Officers assigned to the North Precinct were dispatched to a domestic dispute at 5615 Bridle Glen Drive in Buford.  The 911 call came in from a neighbor who said that she witnessed the event.

Following the assault, the suspect went back inside the home and told his step-mother what he had just done.  She also called 911.  When officers arrived, the suspect was outside and was immediately taken into custody.

The Homicide Unit along with the Crime Scene Unit and Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene.  The detectives learned that the suspect got into an argument with his father just before the assault.

After the suspect was taken into custody, he was transported to Gwinnett County Police Headquarters to be interviewed.  While waiting with the transporting officer, he punched the female officer in the face.  The officer suffered from facial injuries and an ambulance was called.  She is expected to be ok.

The suspect is an ex-convict, but it is unknown where he served time or what he served time for.

The only history at the home within the last year and a half is a burglar alarm and a suspicious vehicle call.

The victim’s and suspect’s names are being withheld until next-of-kin can be notified.  Upon the conclusion of the interview, the suspect will be transported to the Gwinnett County Jail to face charges.
