Learn More(Norcross, Georgia) With the help of the Doraville Police Department, two armed robbery suspects are now in police custody after a pursuit that originated in the city of Doraville and concluded in Gwinnett County. Arielle McMillan (age 26) and Christopher Evans (age 28) have been arrested in connection with two armed robberies in unincorporated Duluth and Tucker.
On November 28, 2015, Arielle McMillan met the victim in his hotel room at the Extended Stay America (3390 Venture Pkwy). The call came in shortly before 1am. The victim told the officers that McMillan asked for money which he did not lend her. McMillan opened the hotel room door and an armed black male rushed in. A struggle ensued and the victim was shot in his right thigh breaking his leg. McMillan was seen walking with two male suspects to the elevator before the shooting occurred. After the shooting, McMillian walked out alone and the two male suspects ran from the hotel through a different exit.
On December 29, 2015, two Hispanic males were exiting their work van when two black male suspects robbed them at gunpoint. This incident occurred at the Carrington Chase apartment complex (1011 Oak Chase Drive) around 7:30pm. One of the victims was shot in both legs below the knees. A cell phone was dropped by one of the suspects during the crime. Witnesses saw a silver SUV picking the suspects up and fleeing the scene.
After extensive investigations, the lead investigator determined that the cell phone belonged to Christopher Evans. The content of the phone revealed conversations with Arielle McMillan about the robberies. There was also information on the phone which mentioned a home invasion robbery at a home in Rossville, GA that was scheduled to occur on October 31 or November 1, 2015. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the crime occurred on October 31. A silver SUV was seen fleeing from the robbery. (2015-30227)
Based on all of the evidence, the lead investigator secured warrants for Evans and McMillan. Evans was charged with Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault for both Gwinnett County cases. McMillan was charged with Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault for the November 28th robbery. Other charges may be added at a later time.
On Wednesday, March 30, shortly after 2am, Doraville Police Officers pulled over McMillan driving a white Ford Fusion. During the pullover, the officers determined that she had active felony warrants and began a felony stop. McMillan then sped away from the scene. Doraville PD began a vehicle pursuit with McMillan and Evans which entered Gwinnett County. McMillan was the driver, and Evans was the passenger. McMillan lost control of her rental car and struck a utility pole at the intersection of Indian Trail Lilburn Road and Warners Trail in unincorporated Norcross. McMillan was taken into custody at the scene, and Evans was captured after a brief foot chase.
Both suspects are currently incarcerated in the Dekalb County Jail. (Please contact the Dekalb County Jail for booking information or photos.)
