Learn More(Wednesday, February 17th, 2010 @ approximately 10:15 PM) Officers assigned to the Gwinnett County Police Crime Suppression Unit investigated a complaint of crack cocaine trafficking at a local hotel. This investigation resulted in an arrest of a wanted individual for trafficking cocaine, illegal possession of a significant amount of Oxycodone (Oxycontin) and giving a false name. The investigation and subsequent arrest occurred at 5171 Brookhollow Parkway in the city of Norcross.
On February 17th, officers from the Crime Suppression Unit, patrolling in the unincorporated areas of Norcross, received information that a person was selling crack cocaine in and around an area hotel / motel. Officers investigated that information and began to monitor the area around the identified hotel. After observing some irregular activities, officers approached and began to speak with a person who identified himself as "Julian Pierce." After a brief interview with "Pierce," officers attempted to confirm his identity. However, they were unable to verify the information he had provided. Further scrutiny found that Pierce had lied to the officers about his identity. Through additional investigation he was positively identified as 35 year old Tracy Ross of Scottsdale, Georgia. As the on-scene investigation progressed, Ross denied association with any vehicle in the hotel parking lot, telling the officers he had arrived by taxi. However, officers found his statements dubious, given his previous lies. They were able to establish that he had control over and constructive possession of a maroon colored, 2000 Buick Regal. Within that vehicle they discovered 30 grams of crack cocaine and digital scales. Ross was arrested. Subsequent to his arrest, officers discovered 143 Oxycodone (Oxycontin) dosage units concealed upon his person.
Ross was transported to the Gwinnett County Jail. He was charged with, "Providing a False Name to Law Enforcement," "Trafficking Cocaine" and "Possession of Oxycodone." He was also found to have an outstanding probation violation warrant. Ross remains in the Gwinnett County Jail; he is being held without bond.
