Drug Seizure and Arrests Related to Alpharetta Home Invasion

(Sunday, March 14th, 2010 @ approximately 9:00 PM) Officers assigned to the Gwinnett County Police Crime Suppression Unit took decisive action when a BOLO or "Look-Out" concerning a Home Invasion style Robbery was transmitted from the City of Alpharetta to area police agencies.  Their actions resulted in the arrest of two individuals who may have information pertinent to Alpharetta's ongoing robbery investigation.  While the underlying Home Invasion occurred within the city of Alpharetta, the subsequent arrests resulting from the BOLO occurred at an apartment complex at 1435 Boggs Road, an unincorporated area of Gwinnett County associated with Duluth.

Preliminary Investigation finds that officers from the Gwinnett County Police Crime Suppression Unit received information pertaining to a vehicle of interest to a home invasion robbery investigation.  This information had been relayed from the City of Alpharetta Police Department. When initially received, the data was vetted by the Gwinnett County Police Communications Division.  Realizing that the Alpharetta broadcast contained facts that possibly identified a Gwinnett County connection, Communication Officers alerted Gwinnett County law enforcement officers to the specifics of the BOLO and potential connection.  Crime Suppression Officers responded to the report and opted to conduct a stake-out of the identified location.  At approximately 9:00 PM, their efforts were met with success when an alert Crime Suppression Officer spotted the vehicle in the area of 1435 Boggs Road.  Having the information provided by Alpharetta, officers conducted a felony stop of the vehicle to investigate further.  Once the vehicle and its two occupants were detained, additional officers went to a nearby apartment associated with the vehicle and its driver.  There, they were met at the door by an adult female.  She subsequently consented to a search of her apartment.  Officers conducting the search located and ultimately seized more than 6 pounds of Marijuana from within the residence.

The driver of the vehicle and the female found occupying the apartment were both arrested.  The driver was identified as:  Joselyn Rodriguez, the female as: Lucy Cabral.  Both reside in the Lawrenceville area.  Both are currently charged with one count of possession of Marijuana with intent to Distribute.  Cabral is being held in lieu of $5900 bond, Rodriguez is being held without bond.  The passenger has not yet been charged in this matter.  The investigation in Alpharetta continues and more charges may be forthcoming.
