(Duluth, Ga., May 7, 2019) – At 4:59pm, firefighters responded to a report of a business fire on the 3700 block of Venture Drive NW in unincorporated Duluth. The caller to 9-1-1 reported that a vehicle was on fire inside of an emission business.
Crews arrived to find a single-story, shed-like structure with one vehicle inside heavily engulfed in flames. There was also a vehicle just a few feet away from the structure that was beginning to ignite. Fire personnel moved quickly to deploy two fire attack lines as the flames started spreading to adjacent grass, trees, and an overhanging power line. Within minutes, the firefighters were able to successfully extinguish the fire. Per the Incident Commander, the owner of the business was completing the testing of a vehicle when he heard a pop. The customer waiting for their vehicle saw flames underneath it. The owner was unsuccessful in putting the incipient flames out with an extinguisher. Both individuals were able to leave the structure without any complications. A Fire Investigator was notified of these findings via cellphone. There were no reported injuries.
