(Thursday, September 27, 2012 @ approximately 6:39am) The Gwinnett County Police Accident Investigation Unit is currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred on S.R. 316 (University Parkway) and Hurricane Trail. This is in an area of unincorporated Lawrenceville within Gwinnett County.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a Tractor/Trailer (V1) was eastbound on S.R. 316 and turned left onto Hurricane Trail. The driver of a passenger car (V2) was westbound on S.R. 316 and intended to go straight through the intersection of Hurricane Trail. The driver of the Tractor/Trailer turned left in front of the passenger car which was unable to avoid collision and struck the side of the trailer and became wedged underneath. The driver of the passenger car suffered critical injuries from the collision and had to be extricated from the car. The driver of the passenger car was transported to the hospital for treatment where he later died from the injuries he sustained in the collision. The driver of the Tractor/Trailer was uninjured.

Driver 2- 68 year old Anvir Karim of Dacula, GA. (Deceased)
