(Dacula, Ga., November 30, 2020) – The Gwinnett County Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on November 27^th just after 6:30 PM. 

Officers originally responded to the intersection of Braselton Highway and Hog Mountain Church Road in reference to a single vehicle accident.  Investigators believe the motorcycle involved was traveling south on Braselton Hwy when the driver locked his brakes to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of him.  The driver of the motorcycle, John Mathews (46 year old male from Dacula), was thrown from the bike and died at the scene.  No other vehicles were struck during the accident.

Investigators are asking witnesses to contact the police department if they have information to add to the investigation.
