(Saturday March 20^th, at 12:08 PM)   A black 1979 Dodge pickup truck being driven by Gabriel J. Verrett of Stone Mountain, GA, was traveling southbound on the entrance ramp from state route 316 merging onto I-85 south.  The pickup truck struck and killed the passenger of another vehicle, which was previously disabled and stopped in the gore area of the merging highways.  The passenger that was struck had gotten out of the vehicle he was traveling in prior to the accident. 

The struck passenger has been identified as Randy J. Howard from Riverdale, GA.  After being stuck, Howard was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center where he ultimately died from his injuries. 

The driver of the Dodge pickup was also transported to Gwinnett Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries and released.   No citations or formal charges have been issued at this point; however, this case is currently under investigation and in the preliminary stages.  Additional information will be forthcoming.
