FIRE AT LAWRENCEVILLE BUSINESS CAUSES MINOR DAMAGE

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 8, 2015) – Gwinnett County firefighters responded on Monday, June 8, 2015, at 2:13p.m., to a report of a small fire inside the warehouse at Auto Guard, located in the 400 block of Buford Drive in Lawrenceville.  The call to 9-1-1 was made by an employee of the business who saw flames coming from a piece of machinery.

Firefighters arrived to find light smoke showing from the warehouse doors and the employee standing outside.  Crews made immediate entry and determined that the fire was already out on arrival.  The fire was contained to an industrial mixer and caused slight blistering to part of the ceiling materials.  According to a fire investigator, a vapor flash occurred that was sparked by a heating element attached to the mixer.  The cause of the fire is classified as accidental in nature.

An employee was working in the warehouse at the time the fire erupted and escaped unharmed.  There were no injuries reported and no damage to the structure.  Please see the below and attached photo sent by the Gwinnett Fire-PIO.

Equipment at the scene included: 1-Engine, 1-Ladder Truck, 1-Medic Unit, 1-Battalion Chief, 1-Fire Investigator and 1-PIO.
