FIRE IN A LILBURN MEDICAL CENTER WAS CAUSED BY ARSON

(Lilburn, Ga., July 20, 2012) – Gwinnett County firefighters were dispatched to a medical facility fire around 9 A.M. at the Georgia Medical Center, 3945 Lawrenceville Highway.  Caller to the 911 center stated that there was a lot of smoke in the office when they arrived in the morning.  Caller stated that at the time of the call the flames were out but there was still a lot of smoke.

On arrival, crews found a multiple story business with no smoke showing.  On investigation, firefighters found a broken window with fire damage to the interior of the office but with no extension past the receptionist office.  Due to the conditions at the scene, crews preformed property conservation measures and called for a fire arson investigator.   Gwinnett County Arson Investigators determined the cause of the blaze was arson, surveillance footage was viewed which showed that the damage occurred during the early hours of the morning.  No injuries were reported.
