GWINETT FIRE/MEDIA ALERT: METRO PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES COME TOGETHER TO EVALUATE EMERGENCY RESPONSE CAPABILITIES AND RESCOURCES DURING MAJOR OR DISASTEROUS INCIDENTS. DATE: (today) 07/21/10

TIME: 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. 

WHERE: Gwinnett Braves Stadium in Lawrenceville (parking lot) 

Fire and police agencies from six metro counties are demonstrating their response teams and equipment related to hazardous materials and explosives incidents.  The purpose is to allow agencies to become familiar with each others equipment and resource capabilities before a major incident occurs.  They are also evaluating resources to determine future UASI funding needs. 

 There are multiple pieces of equipment on display to include tools, apparatus, and specialty equipment. 

The jurisdictions represented at today's event are part of a UASI (urban area security initiative) program and include: 

City of Atlanta
Gwinnett County
Clayton County
Cobb County
Fulton County
DeKalb County
