GWINNETT FIRE/MEDIA E-NEWS RELEASE UPDATE: HOUSE FIRE 500 BLOCK OF LOCKRIDGE LANE, SW IN LAWRENCEVILLE

INCIDENT DATE: 05/05/14
TIME DISPATCHED: 7:58 A.M.
TIME ARRIVED: 8:03 A.M.
TIME UNDER CONTROL: 9:06 A.M.

Firefighters responded to a report from a Lawrenceville police officer of a house fire at the above location.  The officer was on routine patrol when she saw smoke and flames and went to investigate.  She was unable to enter the home due to the intensity of the fire.  Neighbors also called 9-1-1 after hearing a loud boom and seeing flames.

Crews found heavy smoke and fire showing from the garage side of a single-story wood frame house on arrival.  Two vehicles parked in close proximity to the garage were also engulfed in flames.  Firefighters and police were immediately met by neighbors who reported that three people were possibly trapped inside.  Firefighters immediately entered the burning home with attack hose lines to conduct a search for victims and battle the blaze.  Crews conducted multiple searches and no victims were found to be inside.  The blaze caused heavy damage to the structure and destroyed the two vehicles.  A third vehicle sustained residual damage due to the fire.  The exact cause of the fire is currently undetermined and is under investigation by the fire department.

It appears that no one was at the house when police and fire department units arrived and no injuries were reported.  Firefighters are attempting to make contact with the owner/occupants of the home at this time.
