Firefighters were called out to a residential fire incident at the above address. Multiple calls to the 911 dispatch center were received and a caller stated that they saw smoke coming from the residence and that everyone was getting out of the house. Gwinnett County Police shut down Lawrenceville Suwanee Road to all south east traffic as fire crews arrived to the scene. Fires units found heavy fire on arrival and deployed a large fire attack hose line to battle the blaze from the outside. The fire was mostly on the back side of the house with heavy fire to the carport area on the left side of the single family residence on a crawl space. The resident told firefighters that all occupants were clear of the house. As the fire was knocked down from the outside, crews prepared to enter the house to do thorough searches and to put out hot spots. The power company was called to the scene to secure the power. Firefighters found a family dog who perished in the fire and were able to save another family dog. Crews completed the searches and waited for the fire investigator to assess the incident.
There was heavy fire damage to the house where the carport was totally destroyed and heavy fire damage to the back porch and dining room. The rest of the house sustained heavy smoke, heat and fire control activities damage. There were three adult occupants who were displaced. Red Cross was called to assist the residents who don’t have any occupant insurance. There were no injuries reported.
Gwinnett County Fire Investigators were called to the scene. The fire cause is currently undetermined and under investigation. Lawrenceville Suwanee road was opened to regular traffic. Further information will be released when available.
