Learn More*** The identity of the pedestrian killed in the Hit and Run accident has been identified as 17 year old Agustin Cortes of Lawrenceville and is a student at Berkmar High School in Lilburn. Police continue to look for the driver and vehicle that hit and killed this young man. Anyone with information regarding the vehicle and or driver are urged to call the Gwinnett County Police.
(Tuesday, December 7, 2010 @ approximately 8:34 pm) The Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit is investigating a Hit and Run fatality involving a pedestrian. This accident occurred at Pleasant Hill Rd. near Gwinnett Place Drive. This is in an unincorporated area of Duluth in Gwinnett County.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that a tan or brown passenger car was traveling westbound on Pleasant Hill Rd. when the driver of that vehicle hit a pedestrian in the roadway just past Gwinnett Place Drive. The pedestrian was not in the crosswalk. The driver of this vehicle did not stop after striking the pedestrian and continued westbound on Pleasant Hill toward Duluth. Witnesses provided a partial tag of "555" to investigators. The pedestrian was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville for life threatening injuries. The pedestrian died later at the hospital as a result of the injuries sustained from the collision.
The pedestrian has not been identified as of yet. He is described as a young Hispanic male between the ages of 15 and 18. He is approximately 5'-8" and 141 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He does not have any tattoos or piercings. He has a well healed scar on his right knee and left elbow. He was wearing blue jeans, black hooded jacket and a red knit hat at the time of the collision. He was also in possession of a white skateboard and an I-pod. This male did not have any identification or information leading to an address or next of kin.
