Homicide Fugitive Caught by Gwinnett Police

(June 29, 2010 @ approximately 10:00 pm) Gwinnett County Police Officers took into custody 42 year old James W. Bush during at traffic stop behind a business at 743 S. Church St. This area is within the city limits of Buford, Georgia.

Gwinnett County Police received a BOLO for 42 year old James W. Bush. It was reported that Mr. Bush was the suspect of a homicide and triple shooting that took place in Barrow County and may be looking harm his girlfriend who may be living in the Buford area and working for Sonny's BBQ at Hwy. 20 near I-985. It was also reported that he was possibly driving a black Ford pick-up truck. Gwinnett Police Officers began looking for Mr. Bush in this black Ford truck around the Buford area. A short time later the BOLO was updated and stated that Mr. Bush is now a suspect in a car jacking and may now be driving a silver Chevrolet pick up truck bearing Georgia tag "ALL0Y1".

At approximately 10:00 pm, a Gwinnett police officer observed this vehicle on South Lee St. and lost sight of it. Moments later another Gwinnett police officer observed this vehicle dodge behind a building at 743 S. Church St. This officer called in the location and blocked the suspect vehicle in and waited for backup officers to arrive. While the officer waited for backup, Mr. Bush threw a pistol out of the drivers window then complied with the officers commands to remain still. Once backup officers arrived the suspect was taken into custody without incident. Officers were able to confirm that this was Mr. Bush. Moments later, Mr. Bush became unresponsive. Officers called for Gwinnett County EMS respond to the scene to check on his condition. EMS personnel checked Mr. Bush's condition and believed he was under the influence of something and may have overdosed. Mr. Bush was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment. Barrow County Deputies responded to Gwinnett Medical Center and took custody of Mr. Bush.

The primary officer of this stop will be seeking a warrant for Mr. Bush for Felon in Possession of a Firearm on top of the other charges he's now facing in Barrow County.
