INCIDENT SYNOPSIS: 

Firefighters responded to a report from a passing motorist of a business fire at the Artistic Building Supply, Inc., located at 18 Crogan Street in Lawrenceville.  Crews found heavy black smoke showing from the two-story large commercial structure on arrival.  Firefighters deployed lines on the ground and made immediate entry inside the structure to battle the blaze and conduct a search.  They were forced to back-out and fight the fire from the outside, due to heavy heat and fire conditions.  Fire crews flowed water from two aerial ladder pipes and multiple hoselines to control the blaze.   The firefighters did a tremendous job of stopping the fire and kept it from spreading to the attached warehouse.  The structure contains the offices, retail area, and hardware, for a builders supply company.  According to the owner the company has operated at the same location since 1968.  The exact cause of the fire is currently undetermined under investigation.  Firefighters remain at the scene this afternoon wetting down hot spots.
