(Sunday, June 20th, 2010 @ approximately 00:37 A.M.) Investigators with the Gwinnett County Police Accident Investigations Unit responded to the scene of an accident involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. The incident occurred on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, near the intersection of Medlock Bridge Road in Norcross, unincorporated Gwinnett County.                 

Preliminary investigation indicated that a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling north on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in the right lane. The driver of the Chevrolet intended to continue straight through the intersection. A male pedestrian intended to walk eastbound across Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at a point other than at a published crosswalk. As the pedestrian crossed into the right lane of Peachtree Industrial Blvd. north, he was struck by the Chevrolet. The pedestrian died on scene as a result of his injury. The driver of the Chevrolet brought his vehicle to a controlled stop and reported the incident to Gwinnett County Police. 

At this time, investigators believe that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the pedestrian's actions.

The deceased has been identified as 57 year old Dennis Diresta of Doraville, Georgia.
