Learn More(Lawrenceville, Georgia) Shortly after 1PM, Gwinnett County Police responded to 1907 Riverside Parkway in Lawrenceville regarding a shooting. Police arrived to find a male in his twenties with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in serious condition. Detectives have learned that a family of three, mother, (95yo) son, (60’s) and daughter, (60’s) were at the storage facility moving their property. As the family moved their property, a male in his twenties that the family did not know parked near their vehicle. The male got out of his vehicle and began exhibiting suspicious behavior that captured the family’s attention. The behavior was described as pacing and staring at the family.
As the family watched the male and continued moving their items, a verbal altercation occurred between the suspicious male and the family. The 95 year old mother intervened to try and quell the situation. At that point, she was shoved several times by the suspicious male. At that point, her son retrieved a firearm and asked the male to refrain from assaulting his mother. At that point, the suspicious male advanced towards the son and was shot once in the upper torso. At this point, the incident appears to be a self-defense shooting and detectives do not plan to charge the son. However, detectives are still interviewing witnesses at an adjacent business and reviewing video surveillance.
