Suspects arrested in diamond store robbery

(December 10, 2011 at 7:00 PM)  Gwinnett County Police Officers responded to an armed robbery at S.E. Diamonds (1291 Old Peachtree Road) in unincorporated Duluth. Their investigation revealed the following: a male wearing a clown mask forced his way into the jewelry store and pointed a gun at the victims. A second perpetrator followed the first one into the store wearing a camouflage mask. The perpetrators robbed the store and took $68,000 in jewelry and $20 cash from the register.

On the morning of March 16, 2011, officers responded to a call where multiple entering auto (thefts from vehicle) incidents had occurred. The officers stopped a vehicle that they believed was related to the thefts. Through their investigation, the officers determined that the occupants were involved in the entering autos. They arrested the occupants and recovered a large quantity of property related to the thefts from their vehicle. While checking the trunk, the officers located 4 masks, a black Glock replica BB gun, and tools for breaking into cars. Two of the masks and the gun were compared to the S.E. Diamonds robbery and determined to be identical.  The officers collected the evidence and contacted detectives.  The three suspects were Chang Choi Rack (A/M, 18 years old), Seung Woo Park (A/M, 18 years old), and John Nguyen (A/M, 20 years old).

They were each charged with 11 counts of entering auto and 11 counts of possession of tools for the commission of a crime.  Through further investigation, detectives were able to determine that Seung Park and John Nguyen were responsible for the S.E. Diamonds robbery.  They were charged with armed robbery for that case.  The stolen jewelry has not been recovered.  Park said he had been inspired to commit the crime by the movie, "The Town".
