Victor Hill Shooting Update Gwenevere McCord Gives Statement to Police

Update #3 - (May 29, 2015 2:30 PM) On May 28, 2015, Gwenevere McCord gave a statement to Gwinnett Police detectives. McCord said that the two parties were practicing “police tactics” when Victor Hill shot her by mistake. McCord claimed that Hill would never intentionally harm her. McCord is still in the hospital recovering from her injuries.

(May 06, 2015 9:30 PM) At approximately 5:00 PM, the Gwinnett County Police Department obtained a misdemeanor arrest warrant for reckless conduct against Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill. His attorney was contacted and made aware of the arrest warrant. Sheriff Victor Hill was afforded the opportunity to provide a statement about the incident but he declined to comment. At approximately 7:45 PM, Sheriff Victor Hill turned himself in at the Gwinnett County Detention Center. He was processed and released on bond. At this point, the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office will be responsible for the final outcome of the case.

Update #1

(May 04, 2015 11:45 AM) The person shot has been identified as 43 year old Gwenevere McCord from Jonesboro Georgia. Her condition is currently listed as critical. Sheriff Victor Hill was the 911 caller. The 911 call was made at 5:39 PM. At this point, no statements have been made by Sheriff Hill to the Gwinnett County Police Department. Sheriff Hill and the victim were the only two people inside of the model home when the shooting happened. Due to the incident happening in a subdivision, detectives did speak with witnesses. The Gwinnett County Police Department is reviewing all of the information that has been obtained thus far. As we would with any other investigation, we are working in conjunction with the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s office to ensure that the proper legal process is followed. Due to this being an active investigation, the 911 call will not be released at this time. Clayton County Sheriff’s Department will be responsible for the administrative investigation.  

Initial Release:

(May 3, 2015, Lawrenceville, Georgia) Officers from the Gwinnett County Police Department responded to a person shot located at 2567 Britt Trail Drive in unincorporated Lawrenceville.  Uniform officers arrived to find a female who had been shot in the abdomen.  The female was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in critical condition. The shooter has been identified as Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill.  The shooting has been reported as accidental. Sheriff Hill refused to speak with investigators at the scene and was released.  Gwinnett County Police Criminal Investigations Division has been consulting with the District Attorney’s Office on the investigation.  There are no charges filed against Sheriff Hill at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
