WARRANT TAKEN FOR MAN CONNECTED TO AMELIA GARDEN HOUSE FIRE - ARRESTED

(Lawrenceville, Ga., November 3, 2015) – Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested arson suspect, Clifford David Malone, a black male, age-65 of Lawrenceville.  Malone was wanted in connection with a suspicious house fire on October 18 on Amelia Garden Way in Lawrenceville.  He was picked up by deputies on Monday, November 2, 2015 on the felony arson warrant brought by Gwinnett Fire Investigators. He is currently booked at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.  The case is now being turned over to the Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office.  Arson is a felony crime and is punishable by a penalty of 1 to 20 years behind bars.  Malone is also being held on additional charges from other agencies.  Sheriff’s Deputies and Fire Investigators had been looking for Malone since  October 19, when the original warrant was taken.  Please contact the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department for a current booking photo and arrest information.

 

WARRANT TAKEN FOR MAN CONNECTED TO AMELIA GARDEN HOUSE FIRE         

(Lawrenceville, Ga., October 19, 2015) – Gwinnett County Fire Investigators have now identified the man they believe is responsible for intentionally setting fire to a house on Sunday, October 18th on Amelia Garden Way in Lawrenceville. 

Per Fire Investigators, sufficient evidence led them to obtain a warrant for 1-count of First-Degree Arson against a man who is acquainted with the homeowner.  The man is identified as 65-year-old Clifford David Malone, a black male, of Lawrenceville.  Malone is the same man who Fire Investigators spoke with during a traffic stop, shortly after the fire.  Malone is not currently in custody and authorities say that an arrest is forthcoming.

Because this is still an active investigation by the department, Fire Investigators are not releasing specific information as to a motive in the case or exactly how the fire was started.  Additional charges may also be filed by other agencies based on the events leading up to the fire.
