Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Corrections is to promote community safety by maintaining a safe and secure environment that encourages positive change and provides quality services that make a difference.

Values Statement

The values that best represent the core principles of the Gwinnett County Department of Corrections are integrity, professionalism, and respect.

Accreditation

The Gwinnett County Department of Corrections has earned national accreditation through the American Correctional Association, or ACA.

ACA accreditation is intended to improve facility operations through adherence to clear standards relevant to all areas/operations of the facility, including safety, security, order, offender care, programs, justice, and administration.

The benefits of accreditation are to ensure that Gwinnett County Department of Corrections is operating a secure and safe facility while providing adequate programming, education, and healthcare services to offenders in a manner consistent with national standards.

Through accreditation, an agency is able to provide an environment that safeguards the life, health, and safety of the public, staff and offenders while at the same time providing the necessary education, work, religious, and rehabilitative opportunities that enable an offender to prepare for successful reintegration into the community.

Gwinnett County Correctional Complex ACA Accomplishments:

  • Started the Initial Accreditation Process in 2009
  • Obtained Power DMS electronic assessment tool for all ACA audits.
  • Successfully Completed ACA Audits for the following:
