Gwinnett County’s ongoing commitment to public safety innovation has once again earned statewide recognition. The County was recently honored with a 2025 Georgia County Excellence Award for its groundbreaking Situational Awareness and Crime Response Center (SACRC).

The award, presented by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia and Georgia Trend magazine, spotlights cost-effective and impactful programs that improve the lives of residents across the state.

“This recognition reflects the innovation, collaboration, and dedication of our public safety professionals who work around the clock to keep Gwinnett safe,” said Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson. “The SACRC is a powerful example of how technology and teamwork can protect lives, support law enforcement, and strengthen our communities.”

Gwinnett was one of just six counties statewide to receive the honor at the 2025 ACCG Annual Conference in Savannah.

The SACRC, launched in 2020 by the Board of Commissioners and operated by the Gwinnett County Police Department, functions as a real-time crime tracking and response hub. It uses advanced tools, including Flock Safety cameras, license plate readers, and predictive analytics, to monitor active 911 calls and respond swiftly to public safety incidents.

In 2024 alone, the SACRC expanded its community impact by incorporating neighborhood-based cameras into its data network. That same year, the center helped locate nearly 80 stolen vehicles, contributed to over 250 arrests, and assisted in finding 12 missing persons.

“The Georgia County Excellence Awards celebrate the ingenuity and forward-thinking spirit of counties like Gwinnett,” said ACCG Executive Director Dave Wills. “We’re proud to recognize local governments that raise the bar in service and innovation.”

The SACRC is a key component of the broader Gwinnett Safe Communities initiative, which promotes a collaborative, tech-forward approach to public safety across the county.
