In recognition of Black History Month, Gwinnett County will celebrate the achievements, contributions, and rich history of Gwinnett’s Black residents with numerous events and activities around the county.
Black History Month Heritage Night Celebration
Join us to celebrate Black History Month! The County will host its annual Black History Month Heritage Night Celebration at 6:30pm on Tuesday, February 21 at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville. Enjoy performances, soul food, and fellowship.

Black History Month Display
Experience the County’s Black History Month at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center throughout February. The display celebrates the people, places, and organizations contributing to Gwinnett’s Black history and heritage.
HBCU College Fair
Gwinnett Community Outreach is partnering with the Gwinnett Pearls of Service Foundation Inc. and the Rho Kappa Lambda Education Foundation Inc. for the fifth annual HBCU College Fair. High school students and their parents are invited to this event to meet with HBCU representatives, learn about scholarship opportunities, and take part in band auditions. Guests can attend virtually Saturday, February 4, 10:00am to 2:00pm, or in-person Saturday, February 11 from 9:00am to 2:00pm at Meadowcreek High School, 4455 Steve Reynolds Boulevard, Norcross. Black History Month Bus Tour
Pack a picnic lunch and explore the rich history of African American culture in Gwinnett on a Black History Month Bus Tour from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday, February 11. The tour departs from Lawrenceville Female Seminary, where a special Black History exhibit is also on view through the end of February. The tour and exhibit are presented by the Gwinnett History Museum in partnership with the United Ebony Society. The bus tour is $11 per person; preregister by February 6.
Trace Your Roots
Gwinnett Community Outreach is partnering with the Gwinnett County Public Library for African American genealogy workshops. Join Wednesday, February 8 at 7:00pm or Saturday, February 25 at 2:00pm to learn how to trace your roots using the tools available at the Gwinnett County Public Library. Both sessions will take place at OneStop Centerville located at 3025 Bethany Church Road in Snellville. Learn more and register at GwinnettPL.org/AdultServices.
