This community event aims to raise awareness and support for survivors while bringing residents together to help end the cycle of abuse. The race will take place on Saturday, October 4, starting at 8:00am at Alexander Park, located at 955 Scenic Highway in Lawrenceville.

Participants can support the cause by walking, jogging, running, or sponsoring the event. All proceeds from the 5K will be donated to three domestic violence organizations that provide essential resources to survivors and offer education to the public including Mosaic Georgia, Partnership Against Domestic Violence, and Ahimsa House.

Domestic violence is abusive behavior within a home used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over the other partner. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that about 1 in 4 women and nearly 1 in 10 men have experienced sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime.

The Gwinnett Solicitor’s Office is dedicated to changing these statistics by educating and connecting the community to valuable resources.
