Following weeks of campaigning, the 2024-2025 Gwinnett Youth Commission has elected its first-ever slate of executive officers and subcommittee chairs.

Since its inception in 2017, the Gwinnett Youth Commission has been a platform for high school students to learn about local government and actively participate and influence change in their community.

The Youth Board of Commissioners is responsible for conducting regular meetings and managing voting proceedings so that the GYC can work on projects that directly impact their community. Subcommittee duties range from social media and community outreach to event planning and student recruitment for future youth commissioners.

The current Gwinnett Youth Commissioners were sworn in on July 31 and will serve a full-year term. The following students were elected by their peers:

Youth Board of Commissioners

  • Youth Co-Chairs – Chelsea Gayle and Ramin Sarkar
  • Youth Vice Chair – Ethan Escario
  • Secretary – Tori Love

Subcommittees

  • Service Committee Chair – Mary Margaret Cooper
  • Recruitment and Development Committee Chair – Taylor Yuan
  • Special Projects Committee Chair – Amaya Fisher
  • Public Relations Chair – Samuel Bredland

Youth commissioners will participate in special events and field trips, assist with planning and participating in community volunteer projects throughout Gwinnett County during the academic school year, and graduate from the program in Spring 2025.
