Gwinnett has partnered with Vision To Learn to provide free vision screenings, eye exams, and prescription glasses to children in low-income communities.
Research shows one in four children need glasses, but in underserved communities, up to 95% of them lack access to the vision care they need. This partnership addresses this gap by bringing fully equipped mobile vision clinics directly to community gathering spaces.
The County is investing $100,000 into the effort, which helps remove financial and access barriers that often keep children from getting proper vision care.
Beginning soon, licensed optometrists will visit designated locations across the county in fully equipped mobile clinics, making it easier than ever for students to get the eye care they need. This mobile vision program aims to reach more than 590 children by the end of 2025.
