Gwinnett’s 2025 EXCEL class — made up of leaders from across County government — recently completed a heartwarming service project: collecting new pajamas for children in foster care through the nonprofit organization Jambos.
The effort supports children during one of the most stressful and uncertain times of their lives — entering foster care. By providing cozy, brand-new pajamas, the EXCEL class aimed to offer comfort and a sense of normalcy to children who need it most.
The class collected 714 pairs of new pajamas from Gwinnett County Government employees, who dropped off donations at collection sites across various County facilities.
The class also participated in two working sessions, providing 52 volunteer service hours sorting and rolling pajamas to prepare them for delivery. Another tremendous contribution came from a class member who donated roughly 1,600 pounds of rubber bands (used for packing) to Jambos.
EXCEL is Gwinnett County Government’s internal leadership development program for employees, designed to build future leaders through hands-on learning and community engagement.
This project reflects the County’s commitment to compassionate leadership and civic responsibility.
