The County is streamlining how select residential and commercial building types will submit remote inspections. Beginning January 1, the Remote Inspection Web App will enhance the current process of emailing photographs to inspectors and introduce an easier, faster, and more accurate way to submit required documentation.
Designed specifically to support contractors working in the field, the modernized workflow of the web app will allow them to:
- Upload photos and required details directly to the correct permit record
- Submit inspection documentation from any smartphone or tablet
- Receive faster routing and processing of remote inspection requests
- Avoid email submissions altogether
Approximately 20 inspection types across residential and commercial permits can be performed remotely, which include electrical final (various permit types), mechanical final (repairs/replacements), plumbing final (including water heater and backflow replacements), temporary power pole inspections, solar electrical inspections, sewer lateral inspections, pool bonding inspections, commercial final inspections for select work types, and additional eligible inspections. A full, detailed list will be included on the launch date.
What to Expect Next
On the day the feature goes live, contractors will receive:
- A follow-up email with the direct link to the new web app
- A complete list of all eligible inspection types
- A brief guide with screenshots showing how to submit remote inspection requests
Please note that once the app launches, the previous email-based method of submitting photographs for remote inspections will be discontinued.
Thank you for your continued partnership in building a better, safer community. We look forward to delivering this improvement to support your work and help keep projects moving efficiently across Gwinnett County.
