Token Transit: Mobile Ticketing Pilot

Beginning January 4, 2021, Ride Gwinnett will provide mobile ticketing through the Token Transit App. The program will also be available on Xpress, which will offer a regional, contactless product that connects all of metro Atlanta. This safe, secure fare payment option will reduce contact between Ride Gwinnett riders, drivers, and surfaces during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

You can purchase your mobile tickets through the Token Transit App, which is free and can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.

For pass validation, customers must give the Token Transit App access to their smartphone's Bluetooth, then bring their phone near the validator on the dashboard so the mobile ticket can be detected. The validator and smartphone will:

  • Beep once and flash a green light for Local and Zone 1.
  • Beep once and flash a blue light for Zone 2.
  • Beep once and flash a purple light for Paratransit.
  • Beep three times and flash a red light if an error occurs.

For free transfers between services, you must buy the most expensive ticket before beginning your trip (i.e. a Local to Zone 2 transfer requires the purchase of a Zone 2 pass only) and complete your travel within three hours. For free transfers within one service (i.e. Local to Local), complete your travel within three hours. No transfer to/from MARTA, CobbLinc, and/or Xpress is available.

In addition to mobile ticketing, Breeze Cards and cash will continue to be accepted as fare payment.

For more information about Token Transit, please call Ride Gwinnett Customer Service at 770.822.5010.

Transfers to/from MARTA
Free transfers between Ride Gwinnett and MARTA require the use of a Breeze Card loaded with Ride Gwinnett fare or stored value. A trip that starts on MARTA would need either a MARTA fare product or stored value loaded on the card to start the trip. Cash patrons cannot receive a free transfer to/from MARTA, so if a customer plans to travel between systems, the Breeze Card is the best option.
