ASSISTANT CHIEF SMITH GRADUATES FROM FBI NATIONAL ACADEMY

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Dec. 12, 2025) – On December 11, Assistant Chief Chris Smith graduated as a member of the 296th session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) National Academy.

The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.  Nationally, fewer than one percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program.  Internationally known for its academic excellence, the FBI National Academy has 11 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training.  Officers typically have 21 years of law enforcement experience and must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. 

The 296th session consisted of 254 law enforcement officers who graduated from the FBI National Academy.  This consisted of men and women from 47 states and the District of Columbia, 24 countries, four military organizations, and two federal civilian organizations.  A total of 56,688 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935.

Assistant Chief Smith’s graduation from the FBI National Academy exemplifies Gwinnett County Police Department’s commitment to professional development and fostering growth within our organization.
