The Gwinnett County Department of Planning and Development is pleased to provide citizens, businesses, and visitors access to our new online application services that includes searching for existing department cases and permits, requesting building, development and fire inspections, submitting subcontractor affidavits, submitting plans for review, and reporting code enforcement issues 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a minimum of down time for site maintenance. The following services are now available:

  • Search for existing Building, Development, Fire or Planning permits or cases
  • Request a Building, Development or Fire Inspection
  • Renew a Building Permit (requires login)
  • Submit a Subcontractor Affidavit or registration for a Licensed Professional (requires login)
  • Report any Code Enforcement, Fire Marshall or Planning and Development code violation

Open Records Requests

For copies of Residential Plats (Surveys) and Final Subdivision Plats please call the Deeds and Records office at 770.822.8100. These documents are not available at the Department of Planning and Development. In addition, Gwinnett County does not maintain copies of Residential House Plans for homes that are less than 5,000 square feet of heated floor area in size. If your home is less than 5,000 square feet, please contact the home builder. Please call the Building Permits Section at 678.518.6020 for assistance.

The Online Open Records Request Form may be used to request access to documents maintained by the department to inspect or obtain copies under the Georgia Open Records Act. This form is not required to request routinely available records such as agendas, minutes, site plans, ordinances, and resolutions. Although Open Records Requests are not required to be submitted in writing, use of this form will aid considerably in ensuring that each request is fulfilled as accurately as possible.
