The Administrative Bureau is responsible for the Training Division, Communications Division, Support Operations Division, and the Office of Emergency Management.

Communications Division is responsible for answering both emergency and non-emergency calls for service. Other responsibilities include dispatching services for Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Units.

The Support Operations Division provides necessary support to all divisions within the Gwinnett County Police Department and ensures that police services are delivered to the public in a timely and effective manner.

The Support Operations Division includes the following:

  • Accreditation
  • Fiscal Management
  • Human Resources
  • Office of Professional Standards
  • Records Management Section
  • Support Section (including Facilities and Fleet Operations)
     

The mission of the Gwinnett County Training Division is to strengthen community relations and trust; provide community related and crime prevention programs; coordinate the volunteer program; conduct staff inspections; oversee planning and research for the Department; and oversee the basic and in-service training for departmental personnel.

The Gwinnett County Office of Emergency Management is a unit of the Gwinnett County Police Department that handles a variety of tasks involving planning for emergencies and disasters, responding to incidents as a coordinating agency, directing mitigation against hazards, and assisting Gwinnett County Government and its residents in recovery after an incident.

Operations Bureau

The Operations Bureau is responsible for the Criminal Investigations Division and the Uniform Division.

The Criminal Investigations Division conducts follow-up investigations of specific crimes reported to the Police Department.


The Criminal Investigations Division includes the following:

  • Criminal Investigations Section
  • Special Investigations
  • Crime Scene Investigations

The Uniform Division is the largest division in the department. Uniformed personnel are assigned to six geographically proportioned precincts and make up the largest percentage of this division. These officers are primarily responsible for responding to all 911 calls for service within unincorporated Gwinnett County. The Uniform Division also provides police services to six cities in the county that do not have police departments.


The Uniform Division includes the following:

  • Behavioral Health Unit
  • Precincts
  • Special Operations
  • SWAT
