EARLY MORNING RESCUE MADE AT HOUSE FIRE IN LAWRENCEVILLE

(Lawrenceville, Ga., September 21, 2025) Firefighters responded at 3:45 a.m. to a house fire on the 900 block of Overlook Path Way SE, Lawrenceville. The 911 caller was a neighbor who reported that the house across the street was on fire and that they did not see anyone outside. Gwinnett County Police arrived on the scene and found a victim in the front yard who had jumped from a second-story window, and they heard screaming coming from a window on the front of the house.

Fire units arrived and found a two-story residential structure with heavy fire coming from the garage area. Gwinnett County Police relayed the location of the possible trapped victim to firefighters. Firefighters deployed a hose line and a 24-foot extension ladder to a second-story window on the front of the house for rescue. Firefighters made entry through the window and searched the room. During the search, they located a victim and brought them back out of the window and to an awaiting medical unit. Additional units arrived on the scene and began fire extinguishment and patient care for the other two victims, who self-extricated from the fire. Two hose lines were used to combat the flames. Search teams ensured that there were no other victims in the house. Firefighters gained control of the fire at 4:12 a.m. Additional medical crews were utilized for firefighter rehabilitation. A total of three victims, one critical and two non-critical, were transported to local area hospitals.

An occupant of the home stated that he was awakened by smoke and heat. He opened the door to his room and saw smoke and flames. He alerted the others and exited the structure through a ground-level window. The fire displaced five occupants. The property owner requested assistance from the American Red Cross. A fire investigator responded to the scene for cause and fire determination and advised that the fire is still under investigation.

EQUIPMENT AT THE SCENE INCLUDED: 4-Engines, 1-Ladder Truck, 1-Squad, 3-Med Units, 2-Command Staff Vehicles, 1-Air & Light, 1-Fire Investigator, and 1-PIO.
