Director : Abe Kani
Abe has more than 22 years of diverse technology experience and expertise from working in government, banking, healthcare, and manufacturing. He received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Utah State University and a master’s degree from Oklahoma State University.
Prior to coming to work for Gwinnett County in April 2014, he worked for Dell Incorporated as a client executive to help develop outsourcing solutions and to manage delivery of contracted services. He also served as the State of Florida’s Department of Financial Services Chief Information Officer.
In 1999, Abe joined the city of Memphis, Tennessee, as its first Chief Information Officer, leading the privatization of the city’s information technology and serving an instrumental role in transforming the city into a premier digital government. In 2003, he became the city of Atlanta’s Chief Information Officer, generating budget savings from better management of contracts and improved infrastructure maintenance and support. In 2007, he began working for IBM.
He holds multiple IT certifications, including Project Manager Professional (PMP), Certified Systems Auditor (CISA), and ITIL.
