About Gwinnett Transportation
The mission of the Gwinnett County Department of Transportation is to enhance quality of life by facilitating the mobility of people and goods safely and efficiently. This mission is accomplished by planning, constructing, operating, and maintaining aviation, transit, and surface transportation systems in Gwinnett.
Gwinnett Transportation maintains an infrastructure system that includes more than 2,650 miles of road, 750 signalized intersections, thousands of miles of traffic striping, Ride Gwinnett, and one of the busiest airports in Georgia. The department performs this mission with more than 204 approved full-time positions and an adopted operating budget of more than $80.10 million in multiple funds.
Transportation maintains more than:
- 2,650 centerline miles of roadway
- 2,500 miles of sidewalk
- 180 bridges and bridge culverts
- 100,000 signs
- 750 traffic signals and 463 traffic control beacons
- 350 cameras and 248 miles of fiber optic cable
- 81 transit buses that provide service for 10 local routes and five commuter routes
- 25 microtransit and paratransit vehicles
- 500 acres at the Gwinnett County Airport – Briscoe Field
