Report a Problem
Water leaks and sewage spills can be signs of larger problems and can have serious effects on the environment. The quickest way to be sure that the Department of Water Resources (DWR) knows of a water-related emergency is to call our dispatch center, where DWR operators are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
If you are experiencing any of these issues, please call us immediately:
- Water leaks in the meter box or the street
- Water outages
- Sewer backups or spills
- Overflowing manholes
- Sinkholes
- Major flooding during rain events
- Broken storm drains
Outages, leaks, or backups can also occur due to issues with private plumbing or water lines on the homeowner’s side of the right-of-way. These issues are your responsibility to repair and maintain. For example, if there is a leak between your home and the meter, you must call a plumber to fix it as the leak is on private property. DWR also does not control water temperature.
If you are unsure if your issue is an emergency or whether it is your responsibility, you can read more about some of the most common issues:
- Water leaks
- Turning off the water meter
- Water quality issues
- Low water pressure or lack of hot water
- Water outages
