Gwinnett County Umbrella Stream and Wetland Mitigation Bank

To assist in implementing our comprehensive watershed management program, Gwinnett County is has created an Umbrella Mitigation bank. When public or private entities have unavoidable loss of streams or wetlands due to construction, credits must be purchased that provide for protection or replacement of these natural systems. The Bank is managed and approved by the US Army Corps of Engineers with input from Georgia Environmental Protection Division, US Environmental Protection Agency, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Funds from sale of credits will be used to fund stream and wetland restoration/creation projects within Gwinnett County. Gwinnett County DWR currently has one approved Banking site (Martin Heights Drive) and two pending approval (Old Norcross Road and Bromolow Creek) The Bank could be use by various County Departments, the County School Board, Georgia Department of Transportation, or private developers.
