New Look, New Routes
Gwinnett will be implementing new transit services that will provide additional mobility options, relieve congestion, and increase employment and economic opportunities for residents. The new services will allow for better connectivity and accessibility to medical resources, education, and points of interest. It will also provide brand new connections to areas of the county that are not currently served by transit, which opens the service to new customers and increases the transit destination options for residents by 41 percent.
The new planned transit service will include three new local bus routes, servicing new areas in Snellville, Stone Mountain, Buford, and Suwanee. The new service will also provide extended transit coverage in Lawrenceville, Lilburn, and Duluth. This service expansion includes a new local route to Buford (Route 50) from the Sugarloaf Mills Park and Ride located in Lawrenceville through downtown Suwanee, providing customers access to attractions such as Mall of Georgia, the Exchange, and Coolray Field.
It will include a new local route in Snellville (Route 70) that will provide service from downtown Snellville to the Indian Creek MARTA Station in Stone Mountain by utilizing Highway 78 and incorporating stops along the corridor in Gwinnett to include the Amazon Distribution Warehouse.
Transit service will also include a new local route to Stone Mountain (Route 25) that will provide service from Gwinnett Place Transit Center in Duluth through Lilburn City Hall to Stone Mountain's Amazon Distribution Warehouse, providing a connection to Route 70 in Snellville.
Being that paratransit service runs up to three-quarters of a mile outside of where there is a local bus stop, the addition of local bus service allows the paratransit service area to expand as well. This new service expansion also includes the addition of microtransit service, which is an on-demand transit option new to Gwinnett. The planned implementation of microtransit will provide additional mobility options in Snellville/Centerville and Lawrenceville, better connecting these communities to our local bus routes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the expansion services being proposed?
Gwinnett County is continuously working toward enhancing mobility options for residents and visitors. The new services include three new local fixed routes and two microtransit zones that will be launched in phases throughout 2023.
What is microtransit?
On-demand microtransit is a flexible curb-to-curb shared-ride demand-response mode of passenger transportation. Riders request a vehicle — typically a small van or shuttle — through a mobile application or by calling a dispatcher to pick them up and drop them off at a location within a designated microtransit zone. The zones will have connections to fixed route service.
What planning effort went into the proposed expansion services?
Ride Gwinnett has made efforts to improve the current local fixed route and commuter bus route service established in 2001 through the following initiatives:
- Connect Gwinnett: Transit Plan (2018)
- Microtransit pilot in Snellville (2019)
- Gwinnett Transit Development Plan (2022)
To address the lack of connectivity within the county, adding more local fixed route service and microtransit service in new areas was determined to be a short-term solution. As a result, Ride Gwinnett is now ready to share its vision and receive public input before the final implementation of proposed service.
What do the proposed expansion services mean to Gwinnett?
Whether you are commuting to work or school, going to the grocery store, heading to the hospital for an appointment, or visiting friends or family, Ride Gwinnett’s service expansion offers more convenient mobility options to get you to the places you want to go.
With the addition of the Lawrenceville and Snellville microtransit service, Ride Gwinnett is more flexible to meet your needs. With expanded service, more than 50 percent of Gwinnett residents will have access to transportation options.
What are the fare costs for the proposed expansion services?
The new proposed fixed route service will have the same fare cost as the existing fixed route service — $2.50 per trip. The proposed fare for microtransit in Lawrenceville and Snellville is $3.00 per trip.
When do the changes go into effect?
Ride Gwinnett is taking a phased approach to launch the proposed expansion service with Routes 25 and 70 starting in August 2023. Other phases will go into effect throughout the year.
