Enhanced Transit Services: New Look, New Routes
Gwinnett is implementing new transit services that will provide additional mobility options, relieve congestion, and increase employment and economic opportunities for residents. The new services allow for better connectivity and accessibility to medical resources, education, and points of interest. They also provide brand new connections to areas of the county that are not currently served by transit, which opens the service to new customers and increases the transit destination options for residents by 41 percent.
The expansion includes three new local bus routes that service new areas in Snellville, Stone Mountain, Buford, and Suwanee. The services also provide extended transit coverage in Lawrenceville, Lilburn, and Duluth. The expansion includes:
Route 25
- Provides service from the Gwinnett Place Transit Center in Duluth through Lilburn City Hall to Stone Mountain's Amazon Distribution Warehouse
- Connects to Route 70 in Snellville
Route 70
- Provides service from downtown Snellville to the Indian Creek MARTA Station in Stone Mountain by using Highway 78
- Incorporates stops along the Gwinnett corridor to include the Amazon Distribution Warehouse
Route 50
- Provides service in Buford from the Sugarloaf Mills Park and Ride located in Lawrenceville through downtown Suwanee
- Includes connections to the Mall of Georgia, the Exchange at Gwinnett, and Coolray Field
Being that paratransit service runs up to three-quarters of a mile outside of where there is a local bus stop, the addition of local bus service allows the paratransit service area to expand as well.
This service expansion also includes the addition of microtransit, which provides additional mobility options in Snellville and Lawrenceville.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the expansion services being proposed?
Gwinnett County is continuously working toward enhancing mobility options for residents and visitors. The new services include three new local fixed routes and two microtransit zones that will launch in phases throughout 2023.
What is microtransit?
Microtransit is a flexible on-demand shared-ride mode of passenger transportation. Riders request a vehicle — typically a small shuttle or van — through the Ride Gwinnett app or by calling a dispatcher to pick them up and drop them off at a location within a designated microtransit zone. The zones have connections to local fixed route service.
What planning effort went into the proposed expansion services?
Ride Gwinnett has made efforts to improve the current local fixed route and commuter bus route service established in 2001 through the following initiatives:
- Connect Gwinnett: Transit Plan (2018)
- Microtransit pilot in Snellville (2019)
- Gwinnett Transit Development Plan (2022)
To address the lack of connectivity within the county, adding more local fixed route services and microtransit services in new areas was determined to be a short-term solution.
What do the proposed expansion services mean to Gwinnett?
Whether you are commuting to work or school, going to the grocery store, heading to the doctor’s office for an appointment, or visiting friends or family, Ride Gwinnett’s service expansion offers more convenient mobility options to get you to the places you want to go.
With the addition of the Lawrenceville and Snellville microtransit service, Ride Gwinnett is more flexible to meet your needs. With expanded service, more than 50 percent of Gwinnett residents will have access to transportation options.
What are the fare costs for the proposed expansion services?
The fixed-route service will remain at $2.50 per trip, the same as the existing fixed-route service. The fare for microtransit in Lawrenceville and Snellville is $3.00 per trip.
When do the changes go into effect?
Ride Gwinnett is taking a phased approach to launch the new routes and services with Routes 25 and 70 and microtransit starting on August 28, 2023. Other phases will go into effect throughout the year.
