DOMESTIC DISPUTE OUTSIDE OF RESIDENCE LEADS TO DEADLY SHOOTING
UPDATE #2: (Snellville, Ga., Aug. 12, 2025) – The investigation into the death of Tevin Hood remains active and ongoing. The shooter remained on scene at the time of the incident, and both the shooter and witnesses continue to cooperate with investigators. Preliminary information indicates that a domestic disturbance occurred at the residence, resulting in a female victim sustaining physical injuries. The shooter, who arrived at the residence after the physical altercation had taken place, separated himself from the residence before the shooting occurred.
Currently, there is no evidence to suggest the involvement of additional parties beyond those residing in the home. Although the investigation is still ongoing and additional information will be released when it becomes available, this case is being investigated as a possible self-defense shooting.
UPDATE #1: (Snellville, Ga., Aug. 11, 2025) – The decedent has been identified as 33-year-old Tevin Hood of Snellville. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
ORIGINAL: (Snellville, Ga., Aug. 8, 2025) – The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a shooting at residence that resulted in the death of one man. At approximately 7:00 p.m., officers assigned to the South Precinct were dispatched to a residence in the 3900 block of Lee Rd in unincorporated Snellville. The caller reported that a dispute took place at the residence and someone was shot.
When officers arrived at the incident location, they located the man who was shot and rendered aid. Gwinnett County Fire Rescue transported the man to a local area hospital where he ultimately passed away due to the injuries sustained. One person was detained at the shooting location and is in the process of being interviewed by detectives.
The case is being investigated as a Homicide. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. The identity of the victim will be released following next-of-kin notification. There is no active threat to the public.
