SEVERE BEATING RESULTS IN DELAYED DEATH OF A MAN
(Duluth, Ga., January 19, 2023) – The Gwinnett Police Department has charged Bryan Alvarado (21-year-old male from Duluth) and Yeison Alvarado (23-year-old male from Duluth) with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Robbery, and False Imprisonment in connection with the death of Raul Diaz-Villalba (52-year-old male from Atlanta)
On Tuesday, December 20, 2022, officers from the Central Precinct responded to an “assault” call where a male was bleeding and unconscious. Upon arrival, officers found Diaz-Villalba with multiple lacerations, discoloration, a swollen face, and wounds all over his head. Officers provided aid to Diaz-Villalba, who was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries by Gwinnett Fire.
Through the investigation Detectives learned the suspects and victim got into a physical altercation over money. On January 14, 2023, detectives were notified that Villalba had died. On January 17, 2023, the Gwinnett Medical Examiner’s Office concluded that the cause of death was a result of the injuries to the head inflicted by the attack from the suspects.
